Is it ok to simply delete a windows virus on a pen drive using a mac?

A friend gave me a pen drive and I found out it has several windows viruses. They are supposed to be hidden when using windows but they appear when plugged in a mac. Just want to delete them safely and make sure the pendrive will keep working fine when plugged in windows machine.

You should reformat the pendrive.
